Man is inclined, when he is wrong, to lay the blame on someone else. He is like the small boy who was standing on the cat’s tail. The mother, hearing the terrible outburst from the cat, called from the next room, “Tommy, stop pulling that cat’s tail!” Tommy yelled back, “I’m not pulling the cat’s tail. I’m standing on it. The cat is doing the pulling!”<\/p>\n
Is this not what Adam and Eve did in the garden of Eden in Genesis 3:12-13? Adam blamed God for his sin because God gave him that woman, and blamed Eve for giving him the fruit. Eve, in turn, blamed the serpent for their wrong doing.<\/p>\n
Many in the church today have the “it’s not my fault” mentality. They either make excuse or blame someone else for their own sins or shortcomings. Brethren, it is time to take an honest look at ourselves by the standard of God’s word (2 Corinthians 13:5), look at our sins for what they are, confess them, and ask God to forgive us (1 John 1:9). Only then can we truly be fruitful in the Lord’s kingdom (John 15:5,7,8; cf. Matthew 5:16; Philippians 1:11).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
