To illustrate this truth, the following two examples are provided:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1)<\/strong> In Matthew 19:23-24, the text states that Jesus said to His disciples:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Is our Lord saying that having riches will cause an individual to not be able to enter into heaven? Certainly not, for both Abraham and Solomon were rich individuals (Genesis 13:1-2; Genesis 24:34-35; 1 Kings 10:23).<\/p>\n<p>The simple Bible answer to this question regarding riches, is Jesus commentary found in Mark 10:24 where He states:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Thus, it is difficult for anyone who puts their <strong>trust<\/strong> in riches to enter the kingdom of God. Also see the example in Luke 12:16-21 and then note 1 Timothy 6:17.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2)<\/strong> In Matthew 24:20, the text states:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The question is raised, Why would the Sabbath not be an acceptable time to flee the impending destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman armies?<\/p>\n<p>The Bible answer to this question is the commentary found in Nehemiah 13:19-22 Because the gates of Jerusalem would be <strong>closed on the Sabbath<\/strong>, thus hindering the Jews escape from the city.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the Bible is indeed its own best commentary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is a true statement that the Bible is its own best commentary.
