A querist asks, “Is the evolutionary allegation that the ‘days’ referred to in Genesis 1 are simply figures of speech referring to ages of time rather than 24 hour days correct?”<\/p>\n

No, this uninspired teaching of man is not correct at all. Let’s notice the following inspired evidence to the contrary:<\/p>\n

1)<\/strong> Note in Genesis 1:5 – NKJV; Genesis 1:8 – NKJV; Genesis 1:13 – NKJV; Genesis 1:19 – NKJV; Genesis 1:23 – NKJV; Genesis 1:31 – NKJV the phrase, “the evening and the morning,” and how it connects with the phrase, “first day”; “second day”; etc. This indicates that each “day” consisted of “evening” and “morning” periods of time.<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> The word “day” in the Hebrew, is the transliterated word “yowm,” and always refers to a literal 24 hour day not ages of time.<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> In Genesis 1:14 – NKJV, we see the sun and the moon being referred to as “lights in the firmament” (cf. Genesis 1:15-16 – NKJV). Their purpose being to “divide the day from the night.” Note the latter portion of this passage:<\/p>\n

“let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Note in this inspired account, that the word “days” are clearly distinguished from the word “years.” This gives detailed evidence to the fact that Moses was not<\/strong> at all confused as to the meaning of “days” and “years.” Also note that the word “year” simply refers to the complete revolution of the earth around the sun, which takes 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 48 seconds to accomplish (see commentary on verses 14-16).<\/p>\n

Thus, the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16 – NKJV; 2 Peter 1:20-21 – NKJV; cf. Gal. 1:12 – NKJV; Ephesians 3:1-3 – NKJV) solidly refutes any man-made evolutionary “theory” or allegation of there being any possibility where ages of time (millions of years) occurred versus the normal 24 hour days<\/strong> and 365 days per year<\/strong> that we now experience.<\/p>\n
