Note that six times in Amos God said, &#8220;For three transgressions, and for four&#8230;.&#8221; (Amos 1:6-15; Amos 2:1-5). That form of expression is designed to convey a fullness of evil that had gone beyond the limit it had filled the cup of evil and overflowed beyond that which God could allow.<\/p>\n<p>God gave a promise to Abraham about the land that his descendants would inherit (Genesis 12:1-3).
