Anyone familiar with the biblical record can quickly see that the beautiful rose represents the sinless Christ and His selfless love for mankind (Romans 5:1-10; cf. John 3:16-17). The thorns are representative of sinful man who our Lord came to redeem, reconcile and justify (Romans 4-5):<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>While strolling through the fields of time<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> There&#8217;s many things to see<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> But nature is the greatest sight<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> That there could ever be<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The greatest of them all to me<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> Is how the world was formed<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> And why the roses have to live<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> Each day among the thorns<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>One day among the world of thorns<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> A rose began to grow<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> It was the greatest gift of God<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> This world will ever know<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It was the will of God to show<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> That since the world was formed<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> There had to be a rose to live<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> And die among the thorns<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Along the road to Jericho<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> A man was left to die<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> There like a petal from a rose<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> Two men had passed Him by<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>A neighbor and a friend came by<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> And saw His life was scorned<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> With love he took good care of Him<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> A rose among the thorns<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>One day among the world of thorns<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> A rose began to grow<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> It was the greatest gift of God<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> This world will ever know<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It was the will of God to show<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> That since the world was formed<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> There had to be a rose to live<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> And die among the thorns<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Two thousand years will soon be gone<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> Since God looked down in love<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> There in the town of Bethlehem<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> A rose began to bud<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It lived to bloom until one day<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> Was crushed with awful frown<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> And then with love from God above<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> Was moved to higher ground<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>One day among a world of thorns<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> A rose began to grow<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> It was the greatest gift of God<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> This world will ever know<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It was the will of God to show<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> That since the world was formed<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> There had to be a rose to live<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> And die among the thorns<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>There had to be a rose to live<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em>And die among the thorns<\/em><\/strong> (source)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ernest C.
