April Fools Day has a very interesting history. It is a day in which people play pranks on other people in order to try and fool them into believing a situation is real when it is not. Two prime examples, are “fooling” people into believing their shoes are untied, or a piece of their clothing is undone (or any other similar action).<\/p>\n
However, the real April fool is the one who says in his heart [mind] there is no God (Psalm 14:1; Psalm 53:1) and believes it to be true (Proverbs 16:25).<\/p>\n
Its interesting to note that in both Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1, we find the word corrupt. This word in the Hebrew means to destroy, corrupt, go to ruin, decay.<\/p>\n
The cause of a person having this corrupt mindset is found in Psalm 10:4 KJV:<\/p>\n
\nThe wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts<\/strong> (marginal reading: all his thoughts are, There is no God).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Thus the cause of the fools mindset is the sin of pride. He knows there is a God, but his pride causes him to believe a lie instead (Romans 1:19-25; cf. Isaiah 44:9-20; Jeremiah 10:14-15).<\/p>\n
Brethren and friends, let us never be a fool (April or otherwise), blinded to Gods truth by the sin of pride (2 Corinthians 4:1-4 – see commentary).<\/p>\n
Rather, let us be wise (Ephesians 5:17) in allowing the light of Gods word (Psalm 119:105; Proverbs 6:23) to shine in our hearts in order to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6; cf. 1 Peter 2:9).<\/p>\n
