Brothers went into the army; <br \/>  And sisters got married &#8220;before&#8221; having children! <br \/>  <\/strong> <strong><br \/>  Crime did not pay; <br \/>  Hard work did; <br \/>  And people knew the difference. <\/strong> <strong><\/p>\n<p>  Moms could cook; <br \/>  Dads would work; <br \/>  Children would behave. <\/p>\n<p>  Husbands were loving; <br \/>  Wives were supportive; <br \/>  And children were polite. <\/p>\n<p>  Women wore the jewelry; <br \/>  And Men wore the pants. <br \/>  Women looked like ladies; <br \/>  Men looked like gentlemen; <br \/>  And children looked decent. <br \/>  <\/strong> <strong><br \/>  People loved the truth, <br \/>  And hated a lie; <br \/>  They came to church to get <br \/>  &#8220;in&#8221; &#8211; Not to get &#8220;out&#8221;! <\/p>\n<p>  Hymns sounded godly; <br \/>  Sermons sounded helpful; <br \/>  Rejoicing sounded normal; <br \/>  And crying sounded sincere. <\/p>\n<p>  Cursing was wicked; <br \/>  Drinking was evil; <br \/>  and divorce was unthinkable. <\/p>\n<p>  The flag was honored; <br \/>  America was beautiful; <br \/>  And God was welcome! <\/p>\n<p> We read the Bible in public;<br \/> Prayed in school;<br \/> And preached from house to house;<br \/> To be called an American was worth dying for;<br \/> To be called a Christian was worth living for;<br \/> To be called a traitor was a shame!<br \/>  <\/strong> <strong><br \/>  Sex was a personal word. <br \/>  Homosexual was an unheard of word, <br \/>  And abortion was an illegal word. <\/p>\n<p> Preachers preached because they had a message;<br \/> And Christians rejoiced because they had the victory!<br \/> Preachers preached from the Bible;<br \/> Singers sang from the heart;<br \/> And sinners turned to the Lord&#8217;s teachings to be saved from their sins!<\/p>\n<p>  A new birth meant a new life; <br \/>  Salvation meant a changed life; <br \/>  Following Christ led to eternal life. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;<br \/> Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;<br \/> Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;<br \/> And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Laws were based on the Bible;<br \/> Homes read the Bible;<br \/> And churches taught the Bible.<br \/> <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong> Preachers were more interested in new converts, <br \/>  Than new clothes and new cars. <br \/>  God was worshipped; <br \/>  Christ was exalted; <br \/>  and the Holy Spirit was respected.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Church was where you found Christians on the Lord&#8217;s Day, rather than in the garden, on the creek bank, on the golf course, or being entertained somewhere else.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Brethren, the moral fiber of our society has indeed &#8220;changed&#8221; in the past two generations. This is exactly why faithful Christians need to consistently walk in the &#8220;old paths&#8221; of God&#8217;s moral right (Jeremiah 6:16 &#8211; NKJV), rather than in &#8220;their ways&#8221; (ways of the world) &#8211; Jeremiah 18:15 &#8211; NKJV .
