One of the best descriptions of the purpose of prayer can be found in Arthur W. Pinks book, The Sovereignty of God.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He quotes from the book:<\/p>\n

Prayer is not so much an act as it is an attitudean attitude of dependency, dependency upon God. Prayer is a confession of creature weakness, yea, of helplessness. Prayer is the acknowledgment of our need and the spreading of it before God.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Paul said it another way:<\/p>\n
