{"id":47346,"date":"2022-10-01T02:50:45","date_gmt":"2022-10-01T07:50:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/our-awesome-god-bible-study\/"},"modified":"2022-10-01T02:50:45","modified_gmt":"2022-10-01T07:50:45","slug":"our-awesome-god-bible-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/our-awesome-god-bible-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Our &#8220;Awesome&#8221; God &#8211; Bible study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Its an often-used word, and we hear it in the most unusual contexts  its the word &#8220;awesome.&#8221; Websters dictionary provides us this definition: &#8220;<strong>expressive of awe&#8221; or &#8220;inspiring awe.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>The word &#8220;awe&#8221; is defined as:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>an emotion variously combining dread, veneration, and wonder that is inspired by authority or by the sacred or sublime &lt;stood in awe of the king&gt; &lt;regard nature&#8217;s wonders with awe&gt;<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Online Etymology Dictionary defines this term as:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Current sense of &#8220;dread mixed with veneration&#8221; is due to biblical use with ref. to the Supreme Being.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>My family and I remember the time that we stood on the south rim of the Grand Canyon (see video) admiring God&#8217;s creative beauty That was truly an &#8220;awesome&#8221; experience.<\/p>\n<p>However, there&#8217;s an even more awe-inspiring reality  its knowing the Creator and Sustainer of the entire universe (Isaiah 42:5; Zechariah 12:1; Acts 17:25; Hebrews 1:1-3). No wonder the Psalmist wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>The LORD Most High is awesome<\/strong>&#8221; (Psalm 47:2).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The next time we hear the word &#8220;awesome,&#8221; may it remind us of our great God, whose glory and creative ability is indeed awesome!
