Matthew 4:4 &#8211; NKJV; Romans 1:16 &#8211; NKJV).<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>They read the Journal and the News,<br \/> The Green Book and the Red;<br \/> They kept the serials of the month<br \/> securely in their head.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>They went through books both old and new<br \/>  best sellers, too, they thought;<br \/> They read the jokes and scanned the styles<br \/>  no item went for nought.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>They read the sporting page  they<br \/> called each athlete by name;<br \/> They read of baseball, football, golf<br \/>  familiar with each game.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>They look the funny paper through<br \/> they watched the mails to seize<br \/> The magazine they like the best,<br \/> whose columns did most please.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But in their home there was a Book,<br \/> with pages never turned,<br \/> Whose messages of truth and hope<br \/> were still by them unlearned.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The only Book that tells of Him who<br \/> came that we might know<br \/> The Truth that saves and comforts<br \/> us in this vile world below.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What a pity that they do not know<br \/> this man of Galilee!<br \/> How sad they do not seek for things<br \/> of immortality!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But, no, they read and laugh and cry<br \/> o&#8217;er stories of the hour,<br \/> And let the Book, dust-covered lie<br \/>  unopened in its power!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following poem from an unknown author, is designed to help us think about what kind of written material we read and its importance relative to the Bible (cf.
