Our giving should be free of pride and selfless in nature (1 John 3:16-18; cf. Deuteronomy 15:7-11).<\/p>\n<p>This principle of selfless giving is well reflected in the following poem entitled, A Kindly Little Deed:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong><em>I did a favour yesterday,<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> A kindly little deed,<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> And then I called to all the world<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> To stop and look and heed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They stopped and looked and flattered me<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> In words I could not trust,<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> And when the world had gone away<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> My good deed turned to dust.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>A very tiny courtesy<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> I found to do today;<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> Twas quickly done with none to see,<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> And then I ran away.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>But someone must have witnessed it,<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em>For  truly I declare <strong><em><\/em><\/strong> <\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em> As I sped back the stony path,<\/em><\/strong><br \/> <strong><em>Roses were blooming there!<\/em><\/strong>&#8221; (source).<\/p>\n<p>Wihla Hutson<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our attitude toward giving to others, should be one of not expecting anything in return but to give just because we want to make the lives of people just a little bit brighter.
