As time went on, more chemical reactions caused the descen dants of these one-celled organisms to mutate and develop into a variety of types of multi-celled plants and animals. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u201cThe process continued, and as each new variety of organism appeared, natural selection would result in its being either better or less suited to the environment, and therefore it would either flourish or disappear. In the long run, then, species of plants and animals better and better suited to their respective environments appeared and developed. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u201cMan is the highest product of this development. He is immediately descended from the same ancestors as the apes; more remotely, from the same ancestors as all mammals. He is himself still developing; that process is stalled by our present lifestyle, but biologically it is inevitable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt; text-align:right;line-height:normal'><i>\u2014The Bible Friend<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1436<\/b><b> Three-Million-Year-Old Man<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Tokyo (AFP)\u2014A Japanese anthropologist said the fossil remains found in East Africa by Mrs. Mary Leakey must indeed be the earliest Hominid (man\u2019s ancestors) fossils. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>The ones discovered by the late Dr. Richard Leakey, son of Mrs. Leakey, in Northern Kenya in 1968 had previously been the earliest\u20142,900,000 years old\u2014so that the radioisotope reading of Mrs. Leakey\u2019s fossils as 3,350,000\u20133,750,000 years old date them as the earliest yet found. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Commenting on the new finds, Dr. Takashi Suzuki, head of the anthropological research department of the National Museum of Science, said that the Leakey family is world-famous for their research on man\u2019s ancestors. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>The late Dr. Louis Leakey, husband of Mrs. Mary Leakey, found hominid fossils for the first time in Olduval Valley, Tanzania. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1437<\/b><b> \u201cBig Bang\u201d Theory<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>London (UPI)\u2014Scientists have listened with radio telescopes to the unimaginable explosion that gave birth 10 billion years ago to the planet earth and the rest of the universe, Sir Bernard Lovell said in an address to the British Association for the Advancement of Science. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>As far as he is concerned, he makes clear in his address in Guildord Cathedral, the \u201ccontinuous creation\u201d theory of the origin of the universe\u2014that it has always existed as it is now\u2014has been disproved in favor of the \u201cbig bang\u201d theory that a condensate of infinite density shattered into what we now live on and see in the heavens. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Lovell said the shape of the universe and the fact there is life on earth and perhaps elsewhere in the cosmos were probably determined by events that took place in the first second of time. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1438<\/b><b> New Theory On Universe<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>San Francisco (UPI)\u2014A new theory on the creation of the solar system that includes a tremendous explosion by a giant star, the core of which slammed backwards into our sun and reversed the direction of its rotation, was presented (in 1975). <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Among other things this theory explains, said its originator, Judd Boynton of Geophysics Labs and Research in Berkeley, California, is \u201cthe origin of the chemical elements above hydrogen in the planets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Boynton theorized that the creative process started about four-and-a-half billion years ago when an iron-rich companion star, five to 10 times more massive than the sun, exploded as a consequence of \u201crun-away\u201d internally-generated nuclear fusion. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>The blast blew more than 99.9 percent of the mass forever outwards into space. The residue eventually was pulled together to form the planets of the sun, their moons and the asteroids, he said. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Implosion of this event formed a dwarfed companion to our sun, which was blown backwards in relation to its original orbit and spiraled ever closer to the sun. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Finally this dwarf entered the sun, skimming the surface at orbital velocity and reversing the sun\u2019s original rotation, Boynton said. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1439<\/b><b> Darwin\u2019s Grandson: No Need For God<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>A brilliant array of scholars responded to beckonings of the University of Chicago for its Darwin Centennial Celebration, November 24\u201328, and the resulting galaxy was perhaps the most memorable feature of the gathering. Numbered among approximately 2,500 attendants from 27 countries was another Charles Darwin (grandson of evolution\u2019s bright light), who dolefully predicted that overpopulation and resulting complications would cause a return to hard conditions of life and the diminishing of human intelligence. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>But it was another grandson of a famous British scientist who ran off with the headline, and he did it with an old, old story. Sir Julian Huxley, scion of Thomas Huxley, predicted the disappearance of religion\u2014a product of evolution like everything else\u2014from earth, through \u201ccompetition with other, truer, and more embracing thought organizations.\u201d He saw no \u201cneed or room \u2026 in the evolutionary pattern of thought \u2026 for supernatural beings capable of affecting the course of events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=center style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;text-align:center; line-height:normal'>REFUTATIONS OF THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1440<\/b><b> Darwin Converted? <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Shortly before his death, Charles Darwin, with whom began the theory of organic evolution, said, \u201cI was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries and suggestions. To my astonishment, they took like wildfire!\u201d Later, he suggested to a Christian friend that she speak to the servants, tenants and neighbors. \u201cWhat shall I speak about?\u201d \u201cChrist Jesus,\u201d replied Darwin. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt; text-align:right;line-height:normal'><i>\u2014The Watchman-Examiner<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1441<\/b><b> Darwin\u2019s Last Hours<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>From reliable testimony, it may be assumed that Charles Darwin returned to the faith of his early manhood. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Lady Hope visited him one afternoon in England. He was almost bedridden for some months before he died. And sitting up in bed, he held an open Bible. \u201cWhat are you reading?\u201d asked Lady Hope. \u201cThe Royal Book, I call it. Isn\u2019t it grand?\u201d Darwin answered. Lady Hope mentioned about creation and the early chapters of Genesis. Darwin seemed greatly distressed and a look of agony came over his face as he said: \u201cI was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything, and to my astonishment the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion out of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Then he added: \u201cI have a summerhouse in the garden. I want you to speak to the people there tomorrow afternoon.\u201d \u201cWhat shall I speak about?\u201d Lady Hope asked. \u201cChrist Jesus,\u201d he replied in a clear emphatic voice, adding in a lower tone, \u201cand His salvation. Is not that the best theme? And then I want you to sing some hymns with them.\u201d Then he added in farewell: \u201cIf you take the meeting at three o\u2019clock, this window will be open and you will know that I am joining in with the singing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt; text-align:right;line-height:normal'>\u2014C. Hale Amos in <i>The Bible Friend<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1442<\/b><b> \u201cIt Appears That,\u201d Etc. <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>The theory of the evolution of man is based on suppositions and inferences. As an example, the first chapter of Charles Darwin\u2019s book <i>The Descent of Man<\/i> contains within a few pages, 20 expressions of uncertainty, such as \u201cseemed,\u201d \u201cit appears,\u201d \u201ctake for granted,\u201d \u201cmay,\u201d and \u201cimplies.\u201d The concluding chapter of 14 pages has more than 50 such expressions. Within 30 years after publication the book was changed in 87 places. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt; text-align:right;line-height:normal'>\u2014Elizabeth A. Schroeter<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1443<\/b><b> Darwin\u2019s Reversed Significance<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>In 1859 appeared Charles Darwin\u2019s <i>Origin of Species<\/i>. It has been called the most significant book of the nineteenth century. If so, it was not because it set forth the theory of organic evolution\u2014this had been done before. Its importance was in Darwin\u2019s explanation of the \u201chow\u201d of organic evolution\u2014natural selection. Evolution has survived into the middle of the twentieth century, but Darwin\u2019s explanation of it has been largely rejected by modern evolutionists. In other words, the feature of the Origin of Species most significant in 1859 (natural selection) seems to be least significant in 1980s while the feature least significant in 1800s (organic evolution) seems to be most significant in the present. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1444<\/b><b> Piltdown Man: Greatest Hoax<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>For more than forty years the Piltdown man was an honored member of the society of \u201cearliest humans.\u201d Then a startling discovery proved him to be an enormous fraud. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>In early 1912 fossil hunter Charles Dawson brought the first finds of the Piltdown man to the British Museum. Immediately the finder became famous, and soon other fragments of the \u201cMissing link\u201d began coming in from Dawson. The find was even named \u201cEoanthropus dawsone\u2014Dawson\u2019s Dawn Man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>However, forty years later scientists found that Dawson had deceived them. The jaw had come from a modern ape, with the faker \u201cfossilizing\u201d it by staining it mahogany with iron salt and bichro mate. An oil paint, probably red sienna, had stained the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Further tests revealed every fragment of the Piltdown a forgery. It was probably the greatest hoax perpetrated on the scientific community in history. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt; text-align:right;line-height:normal'>\u2014C. R. Hembree<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1445<\/b><b> Minnesota Ice Man: Hoax<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>A news release from the Bible-Science Association informs us that the \u201cMinnesota Ice Man,\u201d hailed as the missing link, has turned out to be a hoax. Personnel of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D. C., received a call from the operator of a wax museum in California who admitted this Ice Man was the creation of five of his technicians who had fashioned the figure from the combination of rubber and hair. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Ivan T. Sanderson, science editor of the <i>Argosy Magazine<\/i>, viewed this creature in a remote mountain home and was convinced that it was genuine. It was inside a 6,000-pound chunk of ice and supposed it had been discovered in this condition in Hongkong and sold to several Americans who for two years exhibited the creature in carnivals. Only later was it thought to have scientific value, and a study began. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Bernard Heuvelmans of the University of Brussels, specialist on the so-called abominable snowmen, claimed it as genuine. Agreeing with this opinion were Dr. Carlton S. Coon of Harvard, Dr. John R. Napier of the Smithsonian Institute, Prof. W. C. Osman-Hill of Emory University in Atlanta, and Prof. George A. Agogino of the Paleo-Indian Institute at Eastern New Mexico University at Portales. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1446<\/b><b> Dilemma Among Scientists<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Dallas, Texas (UPI)\u2014Three scientists have reported hard-to-refute geologic evidence suggesting man lived in North America 250,000 years ago\u2014a finding they agreed seems archaeologically unreasonable. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u201cWe\u2019re confronted with a dilemma in which we have apparently found geological data that lead to a head-on confrontation with apparently sound archaeological data,\u201d said Dr. Ronald Fryxwell, of Washington State University. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Decades of archaeological study have shown that man first migrated to the Western hemisphere about 12,000 years ago over a then-existent land bridge between Siberia and Alaska. No generally accepted evidence of a significantly earlier existence of man in the new world has been found. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Fryxwell, Dr. Harold E. Malde and Virginia Steen-McIntyre, both of the U. S. geological survey in Denver, Colorado, told the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America they have found relatively sophisticated stone tools in an ancient Mexican stream bed which they dated by several techniques as about 250,000 years old. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>The main problem with that finding, the geologists said, was that the tools are considerably more advanced than the tools used in Europe and Asia 250,000 years ago. Malde said in an interview that the least sophisticated of the tools found at the Mexican site are of a type that were used in the old world 35,000\u201340,000 years ago. The artifacts were found in hard consolidated deposits at a site called Hueyatlaco, few miles south of Puebla, Mexico. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u201cWe are painfully aware that these results deepen the dilemma already recognized that so great an age for man in the new world is <i>archaeologically unreasonable, especially for artifacts of such sophisticated workmanship,<\/i>\u201d Malde said. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u201cAt present, an impasse exists. We think the geologic evidence is better and better and the archaeologists say no.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1447<\/b><b> World Population Count<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Half a century ago, Professor Williams of Franklin College, Ohio, published a book demonstrating The Evolution of Man Mathematically Disproved. He showed by the most careful calculation that if the first human pair had lived 100,000 years ago\u2014some evolutionist say 2,000,000 years ago, or longer\u2014the present population of the world (at only one-tenth the rate of present net increase) would now be 4,660, 210,253, 138,204,000; or two-and-one- half billion times as many people as at present! <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1448<\/b><b> Mathematical Impossibility<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>There have been a number of serious mathematical computations which have to do with evolution, and improbable to the vanishing point. Probably the best known case is the symposium on the Mathematical Challenge to the Neo-Darwinian Interpretation of Evolution, held at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia in 1966. It was there that a French mathematician told that when a computer was programmed to give the probability of an evolutionary advance, it jammed. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>The interpretation of this was that the probability was less than one chance in ten to the one thousandth power! In his closing remarks this man said, \u201cThus, to conclude, we believe that there is a considerable gap in the neo-Darwinian theory of evolution, and we believe this gap to be of such a nature that it cannot be bridged within the current biology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Probability is expressed as a fraction and hence certainty is 1 and impossibility is 0. On this basis to be helpful to the evolutionists, the author assumed that the probability of evolution being true (if there were no gaps in the fossil record) as .999, which then makes the probability of creation the difference between this and 1, or .001. But there are at least 13 well-documented gaps in the fossil record, and actually there are very many more. But again favoring the evolutionists by using this very conservative figure of 13, and putting these numbers in the formula, the result is that the probability of evolution being true is about one chance in 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Thus, even if assumptions are made favoring the position of the evolutionists, they cannot complain if it still comes out in favor of creation, which it does. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt; text-align:right;line-height:normal'><i>\u2014Christianity Victory<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><b>1449<\/b><b> Getting Up To 4 Billion<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Some feel that great antiquity of men is necessary to produce the present population of over 4 billion. This apparently is not the case. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>If the flood did occur 4,300 years ago (and it was probably much earlier), and if only the people in the ark survived on the whole earth, there would still be sufficient time to produce the present population. Even if each two people produced, on the average, only 2.6 children in their lifetime the population of the earth would then double each one hundred years. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Doubling the population each one hundred years for 4,300 years would produce a population of 10,000,000,000,000. This is 3,000 times our present population.
