The axles groaned and creaked terribly, when the oxen turning around thus addressed the wheels, \u201cHey there, why do you make so much noise? We bear all the labor, and we\u2014not you\u2014ought to cry out!\u201d Those complain first in our churches who have the least to do. The gift of grumbling is largely dispensed among those who have no other talents, or who keep what they have wrapped up in a napkin. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;text-align:right; line-height:normal'>Charles Spurgeon in The Quotable Spurgeon<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;line-height:normal'><b>Blarney Stone<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>A guide at Blarney Castle in Ireland was explaining to some visitors that his job was not always as pleasant as it seemed. He told them about a group of disgruntled tourists he had taken to the castle earlier in the week.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>\u201cThese people were complaining about everything,\u201d he said. \u201cThey didn\u2019t like the weather, the food, their hotel accommodations, the prices, everything. Then to top it off, when we arrived at the castle, we found that the area around the Blarney Stone was roped off. Workmen were making some kind of repairs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>\u201cThis is the last straw!\u201d exclaimed one lady who seemed to be the chief faultfinder in the group. \u201cI\u2019ve come all this way, and now I can\u2019t even kiss the Blarney Stone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>\u201cWell, you know,\u201d the guide said, \u201caccording to legend, if you kiss someone who has kissed the stone, it\u2019s the same as kissing the stone itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>\u201cAnd I suppose you\u2019ve kissed the stone,\u201d said the exasperated lady.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>\u201cBetter than that. replied the guide. \u201cI\u2019ve sat on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;text-align:right; line-height:normal'>Bits &amp; Pieces, January 9, 1992, p. 11.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;line-height:normal'><b>Common Complaints of Spouses<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>Dr. Robert Travis, co-director of Marital and Health Studies at the Univ. of Alabama, lists the most common complaints of husbands and wives: <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:0cm; margin-left:18.0pt;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent:-18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; WIVES: He doesn\u2019t listen to me, He takes me for granted, He\u2019s not romantic, He doesn\u2019t help much with the children. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:0cm; margin-left:18.0pt;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent:-18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; HUSBANDS: She doesn\u2019t understand that I need time by myself, She nags about little things, She expects too much emotionally, She complains that I spend too much time at work. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;text-align:right; line-height:normal'>Fathergram, March, 1985<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;line-height:normal'><b>Vow of Silence<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>A monk joined a monastery and took a vow of silence. When asked if he had anything to say, he responded, \u201cI quit.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t surprise me a bit.
