One day as I was fast asleep <\/p>\n
I had this stirring dream; <\/p>\n
I was caught up to be with God. <\/p>\n
With angels it did seem. <\/p>\n
And while up there, I met God\u2019s saints <\/p>\n
From many parts of the earth. <\/p>\n
Now some were great and famous men, <\/p>\n
And some of humble birth. <\/p>\n
I talked to one great saint of God, <\/p>\n
The first one I had met. <\/p>\n
He told me how he died for Christ. <\/p>\n
His words I can\u2019t forget. <\/p>\n
He lived, he said, in Bible days <\/p>\n
And died at Nero\u2019s stake. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a joy to give my all <\/p>\n
And burn for Jesus\u2019 sake.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI was so glad to die for Christ,\u201d <\/p>\n
With humble words he said. <\/p>\n
But as I listened to it all. <\/p>\n
I bowed my guilty head. <\/p>\n
Another man then gently spoke, <\/p>\n
\u201cHere is my story, friend. <\/p>\n
\u2019Twas cannibals that took my life, <\/p>\n
Because I would not bend. <\/p>\n
\u201cI tried to tell those heathen souls <\/p>\n
Of Christ who came to die. <\/p>\n
They ate my flesh and drank my blood <\/p>\n
But sent my soul on high. <\/p>\n
\u201cOf course up here are millions more <\/p>\n
With stories rare and true. <\/p>\n
But friend, before I tell you more, <\/p>\n
Let\u2019s hear your story too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTake up my cross today; <\/p>\n
I\u2019ll give to you another chance <\/p>\n
To work and give and pray.\u201d<\/p>\n
My guilty heart began to burn, <\/p>\n
My nervous body shake. <\/p>\n
Then I awoke with tear-filled eyes <\/p>\n
With new resolves to make. <\/p>\n
I told the Lord from that day forth <\/p>\n
My best, my all I\u2019d give <\/p>\n
To win the lost in every place, <\/p>\n
For this alone I\u2019d live. <\/p>\n
I told the Lord that from then on<\/p>\n
I would not waste a dime; <\/p>\n
That I would give myself to prayer <\/p>\n
And really use my time. <\/p>\n
That I would seek with all my heart <\/p>\n
That power from above <\/p>\n
To help me tell a heathen world <\/p>\n
Of Jesus\u2019 grace and love. <\/p>\n

When the late Bishop of Madras was visiting Travancore, there was introduced to him a little slave girl called \u201cThe Child Apostle.\u201d She had won this title by the zeal with which she talked of Christ to others. Her quiet, steady persistence in this had won several converts to Christ. But she had suffered persecution too brutal to relate. When she was introduced to the Bishop, her face, neck and arms were disfigured and scarred by stripes and blows. As he looked at her, the good man\u2019s eyes filled, and he said, \u201cMy child, how could you bear this?\u201d<\/p>\n
She looked up at him in surprise and said, \u201cDon\u2019t you like to suffer for Christ, sir?\u201d<\/p>\n

Adoniram Judson, the renowned missionary to Burma, endured untold hardships trying to reach the lost for Christ. For 7 heartbreaking years he suffered hunger and privation. During this time he was thrown into Ava Prison, and for 17 months was subjected to almost incredible mistreatment. As a result, for the rest of his life he carried the ugly marks made by the chains and iron shackles which had cruelly bound him. <\/p>\n
Undaunted, upon his release he asked for permission to enter another province where he might resume preaching the Gospel. The godless ruler indignantly denied his request, saying, \u201cMy people are not fools enough to listen to anything a missionary might SAY, but I fear they might be impressed by your SCARS and turn to your religion!\u201d<\/p>\n
