Federal agencies require more than one billion reports each year\u2014five for every man, woman and child in the United States. One firm once had to handle 2700 different kinds of reports, with half a million copies filled out, to meet federal, state and local government requirements. <\/p>\n
The Government Printing Office prints 2.25 billion forms each year, or 11 for every American. To process this paperwork costs industry, business and the public an estimated $20 billion a year, and it costs taxpayers an additional $7 billion annually to underwrite the government\u2019s processing of its own paperwork. <\/p>\n
