My wife and I recently went on vacation and took along a camera and several rolls of film. Upon our return, my wife began proudly showing off our latest set of vacation photos; she\u2019d then tell me her coworkers\u2019 reactions. After a few days of this, I noticed a recurring theme. Invariably, people would say, \u201cWow, your husband must have a really nice camera!\u201d<\/p>\n
Even though people liked my photos, I was disappointed. I wanted them to acknowledge what a good photographer I am, not what a good camera I have.<\/p>\n
I ranted to my wife: \u201cWhy do people do this? Nobody looks at a painting and says, \u2018Nice brushes!\u2019 Nobody looks at a skyscraper and says, \u2018Nice drafting table!\u2019 Nobody looks at a sculpture and says, \u2018Nice chisel!\u2019 What\u2019s wrong with these people?\u201d<\/p>\n
It felt good to get that off my chest. Until my wife reminded me, \u201cSo, how often do you look at creation and say, \u2018Nice work, God\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n
