A preacher and a barber were walking through city slums. \u201cIf God was as kind as you say, he wouldn\u2019t permit all this poverty, disease and squalor,\u201d the barber said. \u201cHe wouldn\u2019t allow these poor street people to get addicted. I cannot believe in a God who permits these things.\u201d<\/p>\n
The minister was silent until they met a man whose hair was hanging down his neck and had a half inch of stubble on his face.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can\u2019t be a good barber, or you wouldn\u2019t permit a man like this to continue living here without a haircut and a shave,\u201d the preacher said.<\/p>\n
Indignant, the barber answered, \u201cWhy blame me for that man\u2019s condition? He has never come to my shop. If he had, I could\u2019ve fixed him up and made him look like a gentleman!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThen don\u2019t blame God for allowing people to continue in their evil ways,\u201d the preacher said. \u201cHe invites them to come and be saved.\u201d<\/p>\n
