When my mother-in-law first married, she was in a serious car accident that threw her into the windshield (it was in the days before mandatory seat belts). Long after glass had been removed from her face and the scars healed, she would periodically find a small piece of glass rising to the surface of her skin.<\/p>\n
Although the shard of glass didn\u2019t hurt her while it was lodged beneath her skin, it became very painful as it moved toward the surface.<\/p>\n
In a similar way, we all have tragedies, accidents, and times when we \u201chit the windshield\u201d in life. We go through the healing process and fight through the pain that accompanies it. We think all the \u201cpieces of glass\u201d are gone, only to have an event, a person, a holiday, or the like bring another piece to the surface, and we suffer pain all over again.<\/p>\n
Complete healing often takes longer than we think.<\/p>\n
