Three farmers gather daily during a horrible drought. The men are down on their knees, praying the skies will open and pour forth rain. The heavens are silent, however, and the petitioners become discouraged. Nonetheless, they continue to pray every morning.<\/p>\n
One morning, a stranger asks the men what they are doing. They say, \u201cWe\u2019re praying for rain.\u201d<\/p>\n
The stranger looks at each of them and shakes his head. \u201cI don\u2019t think so.\u201d<\/p>\n
The first farmer says, \u201cWe are down on our knees, pleading for rain. Look around; see the drought. We haven\u2019t had rain in more than a year!\u201d<\/p>\n
The stranger says their efforts won\u2019t work.<\/p>\n
The second farmer says, \u201cWe need the rain; we aren\u2019t asking only for ourselves, but for our families and livestock.\u201d<\/p>\n
The stranger still isn\u2019t impressed. \u201cYou\u2019re wasting your time,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
The third farmer in anger says, \u201cWhat would you do if you were in our shoes?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou really want to know?\u201d the stranger asks.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe really want to know!\u201d the farmers say. \u201cThe future of our farmlands is at stake.\u201d<\/p>\n
The stranger says, \u201cI would have brought an umbrella!\u201d<\/p>\n
