In 1962, Robert White, fourteen, wrote to President John F. Kennedy\u2019s personal secretary requesting the president\u2019s autograph. Within a few weeks Evelyn Lincoln sent the boy a signature.<\/p>\n
That began a thirty-three-year relationship of correspondence. Impressed with White\u2019s passion for presidential history, the president\u2019s secretary gave the boy thousands of documents and mementos. She saved whatever could be saved, including the doodles JFK drew during meetings. Today White has the largest private collection of Kennedy memorabilia, over fifty thousand items.<\/p>\n
