Just prior to Christmas, I went to the post office. After helping me, the pleasant postal clerk uttered what is surely her standard line: \u201cIs there anything else I can do for you?\u201d<\/p>\n
I quipped, \u201cCan you help me pay for Christmas?\u201d<\/p>\n
Without missing a beat, she replied, \u201cHe has already paid for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
I was stunned. Pleased, surprised, a tad embarrassed, but most of all, stunned. I murmured something profound in response\u2014like, \u201cHe certainly did\u201d\u2014and left.<\/p>\n
A simple phrase had put everything in perspective.<\/p>\n
