At age forty-seven, Julio Franco became the oldest player in major league baseball history to hit a home run. A week later, on April 27, 2006, he became the oldest player in ninety-seven years to steal a base.<\/p>\n
With a cloud of skepticism surrounding the sport, Franco\u2019s longevity has met suspicion from players and outsiders who doubt that he has stayed in top shape through natural training alone. In 2004, retired outfielder Andy Van Slyke accused Franco of using steroids. Franco\u2019s response demonstrated the true source of his remarkable life: \u201cTell Andy Van Slyke he\u2019s right\u2014I\u2019m on the best juice there is. I\u2019m juiced up every day, and the name of my juice is Jesus. I\u2019m on his power, his wisdom, his understanding.
