Coke chairman Doug Ivester told the Brazilian magazine <i>Veja<\/i> that the machine was designed to reconcile supply and demand by raising the price when demand increased.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>After a storm of protest, Coca-Cola backtracked, saying: \u201cContrary to some erroneous press reports, the Coca-Cola Company is not introducing vending machines that raise the price of soft drinks in hot weather.\u201d Instead, the company said it is exploring \u201cinnovative technology and communication systems that can actually improve product availability, promotional activity, and even offer consumers an interactive experience when they purchase a soft drink from a vending machine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Some people still weren\u2019t buying it. \u201cWho the heck wants to have an interactive experience buying a Coke?\u201d responded a further disillusioned customer. \u201cAll I want to do is plunk in my money and out comes the cold can. I don\u2019t want machines saying, \u2018Hello, hope you enjoy your cold drink\u2019 or even \u2018Thank you.\u2019 I like to interact with people, not with machines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>Isn\u2019t it refreshing to know God doesn\u2019t change with the weather?
