{"id":785,"date":"2016-08-15T23:01:03","date_gmt":"2016-08-16T04:01:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/hosanna\/"},"modified":"2016-08-15T23:01:03","modified_gmt":"2016-08-16T04:01:03","slug":"hosanna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/hosanna\/","title":{"rendered":"Hosanna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;line-height:normal'><b>Triumphal Entry<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>This was the shout of the throngs as Jesus entered Jerusalem or His last week of public ministry. Even though the multitudes were shouting His adoration, these were the same throngs that would be calling for His crucifixion just a few days later. Nevertheless, as they welcomed Him into Jerusalem that day, spreading palm branches and their own garments in His path, little did they know that they were fulfilling an ancient prophecy. \u201cSave now, I beseech thee, O LORD: &#8230; Blessed be He that comes in the name of the LORD\u201d (Psalm 118:25, 26), they cried.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>\u201cSave now, I beseech thee, O Lord,\u201d is essentially the meaning of \u201cHosanna.\u201d The crowds were acknowledging Jesus as the promised Messiah, the Son of David, and the \u201cchief priests and scribes &#8230; were sore displeased\u201d at this (Matthew 21:15). But this also had been predicted in the Psalm: \u201cThe stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD\u2019s doing; It is marvelous in our eyes\u201d (Psalm 118:22\u201323).<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>It was these \u201cbuilders\u201d\u2014\u201dthe chief priests and elders\u201d who \u201cpersuaded the multitude that they should ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus\u201d (Matthew 27:20). As a result of this repudiation by these leaders of His people, the Lord wept over Jerusalem, and was forced to prophesy its coming judgment, quoting once again this ancient prophecy: \u201cO Jerusalem, Jerusalem, &#8230; Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, \u201cBlessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord\u201d (Matthew 23:37\u201339).<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>One day He will, indeed, be made the great \u201chead stone of the corner,\u201d and all His people will acknowledge Him in that day. In the meantime, the prayer of the prophecy is appropriate for each unsaved person to pray today: \u201cSave now, O Lord,\u201d thus acknowledging that Jesus has, indeed, come in the Lord\u2019s name. <\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:3.0pt;text-indent:18.0pt;line-height: normal'>\u201cBehold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation\u201d (II Corinthians 6:2). &#8211; HMM<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal align=right style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;text-align:right; line-height:normal'>Our Daily Bread<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Triumphal Entry This was the shout of the throngs as Jesus entered Jerusalem or His last week of public ministry.
