Luther said: \u201cA Christian man is a most free lord of all, subject to none. A Christian man is a most dutiful servant of all, subject to all.\u201d \u201cSubject to none\u201d in respect of his liberty; \u201csubject to all\u201d in respect of his charity. This, for Paul, is the law of Christ because this was the way of Christ. And in this way, for Paul, the divine purpose underlying Moses\u2019 law is vindicated and accomplished.<\/p>\n

According to Paul, the believer is not under law as a rule of life. When Paul says, \u201cSin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace\u201d (Romans 6:14), it is the on-going course of Christian life that he has in view, not simply the initial justification by faith.<\/p>\n
