{"id":9877,"date":"2016-08-17T00:50:17","date_gmt":"2016-08-17T05:50:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/godhis-mercy\/"},"modified":"2016-08-17T00:50:17","modified_gmt":"2016-08-17T05:50:17","slug":"godhis-mercy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/godhis-mercy\/","title":{"rendered":"GOD:\nHIS MERCY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>There is an old story that fits perfectly here about the Jewish rabbi centuries ago who consented to take a weary traveler into his house for a night\u2019s rest.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>After they had eaten together, the rabbi said, \u201cYou are a very old man, are you not?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u201cYes,\u201d the traveler replied, \u201cI am almost a century old.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>As they talked, the rabbi brought up the matter of religion and asked the visitor about his faith and about his relation to God.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u201cOh, I do not believe in God,\u201d the aged man replied. \u201cI am an atheist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>The rabbi was infuriated. He arose and opened the door and ordered the man from his house.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u201cI cannot keep an atheist in my house overnight,\u201d he reasoned.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>The weary old man said nothing but hobbled to the door and stepped out into the darkness. The rabbi again sat down by his candle and Old Testament, when it seemed he heard a voice saying, \u201cSon, why did you turn that old man out?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>\u201cI turned him out because he is an atheist and I cannot endure him overnight!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>But then the voice of God said, \u201cSon, I have endured him almost 100 years\u2014don\u2019t you think you could endure him for one night?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>The rabbi leaped from his chair, rushed into the darkens and, over-taking the older man, brought him back into the house and then treated him like a long lost brother.<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-indent: 18.0pt;line-height:normal'>It was the mercy of God that had endured the atheist for nearly 100 years.\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'>Exodus 34:6\u20137; Romans 2:4; Ephesians 2:2\u20137<\/p>\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height: normal'><i>I Call It Heresy!,<\/i> 50, 51.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is an old story that fits perfectly here about the Jewish rabbi centuries ago who consented to take a weary traveler into his house for a night\u2019s rest.
