a-frt: Designates a state of terror occasioned by some unexpected and startling occurrence; not as strong as amazed, which refers more to the stupor resulting from fright. In the New Testament most frequently for , emphobos (Luk 24:37; Act 10:4; Rev 11:13). The Revised Version (British and American) uses it also for pturomenoi of Phi 1:28, a word properly used of scared horses (Ellicott).
