Arkite, The
Ar’kite, The. From Arka, one of the families of the Canaanites, Gen 10:17; 1Ch 1:16, and from the context, evidently located in the north of Phoenicia. The site which now bears the name of ‘Arka lies on the coast, 2 to 2 1/2 hours from the shore, about 12 miles north of Tripoli and 5 south of the Nahr el-Kebir.
