Blain
Blain
BLAIN.A blain is an inflammatory swelling on the body. In one of the plagues of Egypt the dust became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man and upon beast (Exo 9:9-10). See Botch, Medicine, and cf. Wyclifs tr. [Note: translate or translation.] of Job 2:7 He smot Iob with the werste stinkende bleyne fro the sole of the fot unto the nol. The word is still retained in the compound chilblain.
