Bologna, Catherine of, Saint
(1413 -1463 ) Virgin, Poor Clare, mystical writer, born Bologna , Italy ; died there. She entered at Ferrara a community of Dominican tertiaries whom she induced to adopt the Rule of Saint Clare. Other monasteries were founded at Cremona and Bologna , of which latter Catherine became abbess . She wrote a “Treatise on the Seven Spiritual Weapons.” Patroness of the Academy of Art, Bologna . Canonized , 1712 . Relics in chapel of her monastery , Bologna . Feast , O.F.M., 9 March .
