Bonnet
There are two Heb. words thus rendered in the authorized version. SEE CROWN; SEE HEAD-DRESS.
1. (peer’, literally an ornament, and so translated in Isa 61:10; “beauty” in Isa 61:3; “goodly” in Exo 29:28; “tire” in Eze 24:17; Eze 24:23) was a simple head-dress, tiara, or turban, worn by females (Isa 3:20), priests (Exo 29:28; Eze 44:18), a bridegroom (Isa 61:10), or generally in gala dress (Isa 61:3; Eze 24:17; Eze 24:23). It appears to have consisted merely of a piece of cloth tastefully folded about the head. In the case of females it was probably more compact and less bulging than with men. SEE TURBAN.
2. (migbath’, literally convexities) is spoken only of the sacred cap or turban of the common priests (Exo 28:40; Exo 29:9; Exo 39:2; Exo 39:8; Lev 8:13), in distinction from the mitre of the highpriest, for which another term is used. SEE PRIEST.

(Heb. peer), Ex. 39:28 (R.V., “head-tires”); Ezek. 44:18 (R.V., “tires”), denotes properly a turban worn by priests, and in Isa. 3:20 (R.V., “head-tires”) a head-dress or tiara worn by females. The Hebrew word so rendered literally means an ornament, as in Isa. 61:10 (R.V., “garland”), and in Ezek. 24:17, 23 “tire” (R.V., “head-tire”). It consisted of a piece of cloth twisted about the head. In Ex. 28:40; 29:9 it is the translation of a different Hebrew word (migba’ah), which denotes the turban (R.V., “head-tire”) of the common priest as distinguished from the mitre of the high priest. Bonnet
bonet: In the King James Version the designation of the special headdress of the rank and file of the priesthood, the Revised Version (British and American) head-tire (Exo 28:40). It consisted of a long swath of fine white linen wound around the head in oriental fashion. The Hebrew word found in Exo 29:9 the Revised Version (British and American), to bind head-tires, literally to wind head-tires, means, in the light of usage, to form an egg-shaped turban. Compare Josephus, Ant, III, vii, 3; and see Rich, Dict. Roman and Greek Ant, under the word pileus, for illustration of the egg-shaped cap of Ulysses, with which Jerome compared the priestly turban. Bonnet
was a covering for the head, worn by the Jewish priests. Josephus says, that the bonnet worn by the private priests was composed of several rounds of linen cloth, turned in and sewed together, so as to appear like a thick linen crown. The whole was entirely covered with another piece of linen, which came down as low as their forehead, and concealed the deformity of the seams. See Exo 28:40. The high priest’s bonnet was not much different from that which has been described.
