We find this, act of special grace in JEHOVAH, as it concerns the person of Christ and his people in him, so often in the Scripture, and as it is so important, I have thought a reference to some of the more prominent texts would not be unacceptable, in a work of this kind. Concerning the person of the Lord Jesus Christ as chosen, and set apart from all eternity, the glorious Head and Mediator of his people, these portions are some among the many. Isa 41:8-9; Isa 43:10. compared with Mat 12:18; Neh 9:7; Num 16:5; Num 16:7; Psa 47:4; Isa 49:7; Psa 89:3; Psa 89:19; Isa 48:10; Luk 23:35; 1Pe 2:4 etc. And concerning the children of Christ chosen in him, and sanctified in him, the following are among the many with which the word of God abounds to the same doctrine. Eph 1:4; Isa 14:1; Deu 7:6; Psa 105:5; Psa 105:43; 1Ch 16:13; Psa 106:5; Isa 43:20; Isa 65:15; Mat 20:16; Mar 13:20; Joh 13:18; Joh 15:16; Joh 15:19; Act 22:14; Act 9:15; 1Co 1:27; Rom 16:13; Jam 2:5; 1Pe 2:9; Rev 17:14 etc.
