(Hebrews Evi’, , desire or dwelling; Sept. , ), one of the five kings (“dukes”) of the Midianites (near Sihon) slain by the Israelites in the war arising out of the idolatry of Baal-peor, induced by the suggestion of Balaam (Num 31:8), and whose lands were afterwards allotted to Reuben (Jos 13:21).
