Falconieri, Juliana, Saint
Virgin, foundress of the Servite Tertiaries, born Florence, Italy, 1270; died there, 1341. She was a niece of Saint Alexis Falconieri; through his influence she consecrated herself from early youth to the religious life. In 1285 she received from Saint Philip Benizi, General of the Servites , the habit of the Third Order of the Servites . In 1305, with several companions, she founded the first convent of the Sisters of the Third Order of Servites , where she remained superior until her death; the purpose of the congregation was the care of the sick.
