Shackles for the feet. It is said of Joseph that his feet were hurt with fetters. Psa 105:18. They are spoken of as being made of brass and of iron. Jdg 16:21; 2Sa 3:34; 2Ki 25:7; Job 36:8; Psa 149:8; Mar 5:4; Luk 8:29.

Fetters. Fetters were for the feet only, while chains were for any part of the body. They were usually made of brass, and also in pairs, the word being in the dual number. Iron was occasionally employed for the purpose. Psa 105:18; Psa 149:8.
