Born Grenoble, France , 1748 ; died Au-tshung-fu, China, 1820 . Director of the internal seminary at mother-house of the Congregation of the Lazarists in Paris, he asked to be sent to China after the community had been disbanded by the Revolutionists. He was assigned, in 1791 , to Kiang-Si, then to Hou Kouang where he labored ulltil he was martyred . Beatified , 1900 . Feast , 27 February .
