Jesuit missionary, born probably near Coutances, France, c.1685; died Montreal, Canada, 1760. He labored nearly 38 years among the Abenaki Indians in southern New Brunswick, compiled a large Abenaki dictionary and wrote a valuable account of the Calumet dance.
