lit., “a throwing out” (from ekballo, “to throw out”), denotes “a jettison, a throwing out of cargo,” Act 27:18, lit., “they made a throwing out,” RV, “they began to throw the freight overboard,” AV, “they lightened the ship.” In the Sept., Exo 11:1; Jon 1:5.
