Gobineau, Arthur de
(1816-1882) A French nobleman and author of Essay on the Inequality of Human Races, in which he propounds the doctrine of “nordic supremacy”. According to him, “the white race originally possessed the monopoly of beauty, intelligence and stiength. By its union with other varieties hybrids were created, which were beautiful without strength. strong without intelligence, or, if intelligent, both weak and ugly.” — R.B.W.
