(Heb. Chabayah’, or , protected by Jehovah; Sept. and , a priest whose descendants returned from the captivity with Zerubbabel, but were degraded from the priestly office on account of not being able to trace their genealogy (Ezr 2:6; Neh 7:63). B.C. ante 459.
