i-majin (, hashabh; , meletao): The word most frequently translated to imagine in the Old Testament, only in the King James Version and the English Revised Version, not in the American Standard Revised Version, is hashabh, to bind, combine, think (Job 6:26; Psa 10:2; Psa 21:11; Psa 140:2; Hos 7:15; Nah 1:9, Nah 1:11; Zec 7:10; Zec 8:17); we have also haghah in the King James Version and the English Revised Version, but not in the American Standard Revised Version, to meditate, mutter, speak (Psa 2:1; Psa 38:12); zamam, to devise (Gen 11:6 the King James Version); harash, to grave, devise (Pro 12:20 the King James Version); hathath, to break in upon, to attack unjustly (Psa 62:3 the King James Version); meletao, to meditate (Act 4:25).

signifies “to care for” (melete, “care”); then, “to attend to,” “be diligent in,” 1Ti 4:15, RV, i.e., to practice as the result of devising or planning; thirdly, “to ponder,” “imagine,” Act 4:25, RV, marg., “meditate.” Some inferior mss. have it in Mar 13:11. See DILIGENT, MEDITATE.
