Jeremoth
(Heb. Yereymoth’, , or Yeremoth’, , heights), the name of several men. SEE JERINIORH.
1. (Sept. )) The last named of the three sons of Mushi, grandson of Levi (1Ch 23:23); called JERIMOTH in 1Ch 24:30. B.C. post 1856.
2. (Sept. v.r. , Vulg. Jerimoth, A.V. Jerimoth.) One of the sons of Becher, son of Benjamin (1Ch 7:8). B.C. apparently 1017.
3. (Sept. )) A Levite, chief of the fifteenth division of Temple musicians as arranged by David (1Ch 25:22); probably the same called JERIMOTH in 1Ch 25:4. B.C. 1014.
4. (Sept. v.r. .) One of the sons of Beriah, a Benjamite (1Ch 8:14). B.C. appar. cir. 588. Probably the same with JEROHAM in 1Ch 8:27.
5. (Sept. v.r. ) An Israelite, one of the sons (? inhabitants) of Elam, who divorced his Gentile wife after the exile (Ezr 10:26). B.C. 459.
6. ( v.r. ,, a Vulg. Jerimuth.) Another Israelite, one of the sons (? inhabitants) of Zattu, who likewise divorced his Gentile wife after the captivity (Ezr 10:27). B.C. 459.

JEREMOTH.1. 2. Two Benjamites (1Ch 7:8; 1Ch 8:14). 3, 4. Two Levites (1Ch 23:23; 1Ch 25:22); the latter called in 24:30 Jerimoth. 5. A Naphtalite (1Ch 27:19). 6, 7, 8. Three of those who had married foreign wives (Ezr 10:26-28). In the last instance Qer has and Ramoth (so AV [Note: Authorized Version.] ). For Nos. 6 and 8. 1 Es. (9:27, 30) has Hieremoth; for No. 7 it has (v.28) Jerimoth.

(3) In 1Ch 23:23, and (4) in 1Ch 25:22 = Jerimoth, 1Ch 24:30; heads of Levitical houses.
(5) A Naphtalite, one of David’s tribal princes (1Ch 27:19); the King James Version Jerimoth.
(6) (7) (8) Men who had married foreign wives. In Ezr 10:26 (=Hieremoth, 1 Esdras 9:27); Ezr 10:27 (=Jarimoth, 1 Esdras 9:28); Ezr 10:29 (=Hieremoth, 1 Esdras 9:30); the Kere of the last is , weramoth, and Ramoth; so the Revised Version margin, the King James Version.

Jer’emoth. (heights).

2. A Merarite Levite, son of Mushi. 1Ch 23:23.
3. Son of Heman; head of the thirteenth course of musicians, in the divine service. 1Ch 25:22. (B.C. 1014).
