Matithiah

Matithi’ah. (gift of God).

1. A Levite who presided over the offerings made in the pans. 1Ch 9:31. Compare Lev 6:20; Lev 6:12; etc.

2. One of the Levites appointed by David to minister before the Ark in the musical service, 1Ch 16:5, “with harps upon Sheminith,” compare 1Ch 16:21, to lead the choir. 1Ch 15:18; 1Ch 15:21; 1Ch 26:3; 1Ch 26:21.

3. One of the family of Nebo who had married a foreign wife, in the days of Ezra. Ezr 10:43.

4. Probably a priest, who stood at the right hand of Ezra, when he read the law to the people. Ezr 8:4.
