i.e. “of double rebellion”, namely, the double captivity inflicted on Israel by Chaldoea (Jer 50:21); referring also to Babylon’s general accumulated rebellions against God (Jer 50:17-20, especially Jer 50:18), “Babylon, Assyria,” (Jer 50:33; Jer 50:24; Jer 50:29) “striven against Jehovah, proud against … the Holy One of Israel.”
