Pommel

[an old English term, derived from the French pomme, an apple, and signifying anything round, but now applied only to a part of a saddle] (, gullah, a globular or round thing, a bowl, which it signifies in Ecc 12:6; Zec 4:3), the ball or round ornament on the capital of a column (2Ch 4:12-13; bowl, 1Ki 7:41-42). Anything round. It formed some part of the chapiters of the two pillars in the temple built by Solomon. 2Ch 4:12-13. The same word is translated ‘bowls’ in 1Ki 7:41-42.
