French Catholic priest and mineralogist. Born 28 February 1743 at Saint Juste, France ; died 3 June 1822 at Paris, France . One of the pioneers in pyro-electricity. Founded the science of crystallography. Formulated the geometrical law of crystallization known by his name. Drew up a system of classification of minerals. Merited by his discoveries of the laws of the formation and structure of crystals the title of “Father of Crystallography.”
