Sail
is the incorrect rendering in the passages Isa 33:23; Eze 27:7, of the Hebrew , nes, usually a standard or flag-staff, and in the passages in question a flag of a ship. In Act 27:17 it stands vaguely for (a vessel or implement of any kind), which there designates the tackling, or sailing apparatus in general of a ship. SEE MAINSAIL.
