the name of a Hebrew and a Hebrewess, which appears in different forms in the original.
1. (Heb. Shu’a, , wealth, or a cry for help, or an oath; Sept. or v.r. .) A Canaanite of Adullam, whose daughter (hence named only as Bathshua in the original) was Judah’s wife, and the mother of his first three children (Gen 38:2; Gen 38:12 [in both passages the A.V. has incorrectly Shuah]; 1Ch 1:32). B.C. ante 1895.
2. (Heb. Shua’, , id.; Sept. .) Daughter of Heber, a grandson of Asher, whose three sons are likewise enumerated (1Ch 7:32). B.C. post 1874.
