Aelfric the Grammarian
(c.955-1020) Abbot of Eynsham, Anglo-Saxon writer. His writings concerning the Blessed Sacrament occasioned controversy, Protestants contending that he denied transubstantiation; it is now conceded that his words are to be interpreted in the Catholic sense.
