(Hebrew Achochi’, ; Sept. , v [v. r. v], , [v. r. ], [v. r. , ]), an epithet applied to Dodo or Dodai, one of the captains under Solomon (1Ch 27:4), and his son Eleazar, one of David’s three chief warriors (2Sa 23:9; 1Ch 11:12), as well as to Zalmon or Ilai, another of his body-guard (2Sa 23:28; 1Ch 11:29); doubtless from their descent from AHOAH SEE AHOAH (1Ch 8:4) the Benjamite (comp. 1Ch 11:26).

Ahohite

a-hoht (, ‘ahoh): A patronymic employed in connection with the descendants of AHOAH (which see) such as Doda (2Sa 23:9) or Dodo (1Ch 11:12), Ilai (29) or Zalmon (2Sa 23:28), and also Eleazar, son of Dodo (1Ch 11:12). The family must have been fond of military affairs, for all the above were officers in David and Solomon’s armies.
